About the Wine Maker Scott Hoffman

From the beginning, my goal for Anne Amie was to produce sophisticated, fruit-driven wines with complex layers of flavor, fine tannins, and perfect balance. In 1999, I searched for some of the best Pinot Noir sites in the Northern Willamette Valley. I wanted Anne Amie Pinot Noir to reflect the quality terroir of those sites and express it consistently through the differences of individual vintage years. I committed to extremely low yields at each site, purchased fruit by the acre and intensely farmed each vineyard. I designed a new crush facility which utilized the most sophisticated equipment available to ensure that the wines are minimally handled.

The 2001 Vintage marked the first release of five Vineyard Designate Pinot Noirs under the Anne Amie label: Doe Ridge, Hawks View, Yamhill Springs, Laurel and Rainbow Ridge. While those wines are long gone, we have followed them with stunning wines from the 2002 vintage. We have also added two new Vineyard to the program: La Colina and Doe Ridge. We made each wine using traditional Burgundian, open-top fermentation’s and hand-punched caps. The wines are minimally processed using gravity and state-of-the-art equipment to faithfully preserve the character of the grapes. We aged the wines entirely in French oak for 10 months and bottled them unfined and unfiltered.

We also make a Pinot Noir blended from several select vineyards. The 2002 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir was released Memorial Day 2004. Additionally, we produce small amounts of other varietals including Pinot Gris, Viogner, Pinot Blanc and a Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Franc and Malbec called Belle Rouge. Most of these small lots are available only at the winery.

You can get detailed information of any of the wines by clicking their respective icons on this page. I would also like to personally invite you to visit the winery so that you can experience the wines for yourself.
