How No Merlot .com came to be
Once upon a time, not so long ago, in a grumpy little bar in Hoboken
NJ called the Nag's
Head, a geek and an attorney discussed the new laws allowing wineries
to sell directly to the public. Both were drinking beer in the back
corner while a thrilling game of darts raged on - well, as raging
and thrilling as a game of darts can be. Anyway, the geek and the
attorney agreed the old wine laws were just state sanctioned monopolies
to inhibit free trade. Being of free trade values and the belief
you can be anything you want in America, the geek and the lawyer decided
to start a new web site devoted to wine reviews, selling wine online
and anything else related to wine. Some generic and silly names
were tossed about. Like most of the darts thrown by the dart
players, the names did not hit the bullseye. Some names were
close, others hit the wall, or worse, bounced to the floor.
No one was hurt though. After a couple more beers, a couple more nights
and some emails back and forth, the name NoMerlot.com came into being.
Considering the lawyer gave up law to buy a wine store called Hoboken
Vine, and the geek is a geek who operates Serr.biz,
NoMerlot.com went from an idea to a full fledged web site for your
enjoyment in less than a month. To this day, almost a month later,
it continues to grow, change and evolve, like a good wine. Well,
actually, it's really more like a grape seed just planted. It's
starting to germinate and with care and attention, we hope it produced
thousands of fair and balanced wine reviews and resources for years
to come.
Now you know about NoMerlot.com, read some reviews and drink some
wine, but no merlot. !
