Wine Review - Three Thieves Tempranillo 2003
Dear Joel, I know you’re playing some coy game by trying to hide from me, but I found you! Just because your name isn’t on the bottle doesn’t mean that I don’t know that you made it. I’ve been drinking your Three Thieves Tempranillo. I know, I know, you have two partners for this one, Charles Bieler and Roger Scommenga. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I’m sure they’re great. Lucky for me, this website, www.threethieves.com, is MUCH more informative than the one for your personal label. It had your picture and bio, and even a True Hollywood Story about you guys! If that doesn’t confirm your rockstar status, I don’t know what would. So I found out that you guys started out in 2003 with your first release of Zinfandel and are firm in your dedication to make high quality wine that is affordable enough for the masses. Since then you have just exploded with new products – even some box wine! That guy on the video was exactly right when he said, “People who love their jugs really love their box.” Sooooo insightful, on sooooo many levels. You may not know this, but last night you met my mom! I couldn’t have asked for you to be more well-behaved and impressive. She thought your wine was very tasty. Light easy to drink up front with a dry finish and a strong backbone – the exact qualities she’s always imagined for her little princess. It made me so happy! The biggest lesson I’ve learned from drinking your wine was summed up on the THS with this line: “This is the American way. Three cowboys stealing from the rich and giving to the poor.” Darling, I long for the day when we can ride off into the sunset together. xoxo, |
